October's Woes, Summer Glows
My 2009 Garden starting in May.
Not to be forgotten, the Boss at my house and my constant companion.
This is my little Peewee. She is now 10 years old. You never saw a child as spoiled as Peewee is.

I am a gardener, among other things. Starting in the spring, the Hosta starts to parade in its green, blue and yellow finery. In the fall they bring forth their lavender, white and purple blossoms. The yellow has a 2 tone white with lavender throat.

Hostas In the Springtime.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Next comes the Iris in all their glory.

Slowly behind Hosta and the Iris the Ecinacea and the Daisy's are all decked out in their purple, yellow, pink and yellow blossoms. For the most part these flowers bloom continuously until just before frost at the middle of end of September. This year it was the very end of September and almost every night since.. Gets down into the low 40 degree mark. We also are having a lot or rain. One bright spot is that the weathermen says that next week we are to have warmer temps and sunshine. I could really do with some sunshine right about now. I still have cleaning out of my garden to do.

Not to be outdone, there are several other plants and flowers that grow, flourish and blossom in my garden. Wouldn't you know mytwo tomato plants that were started in April are growing nicely. Don't see any blossoms yet, but near the end of May they should start to appear. Oh Yes, Not only blossoms, but look at what I've got: One tomato and a large on at that. Next: I can almost taste those red juicy fruit when they ripen. That is just a sample of the tomatoes I have had this summer. I've had tomatoes every day and have shared some with friends.

That's not all the goodies in my garden. There is the Celeosis, the Marigolds, Moon Flowers, the Sunflowers plus smaller plants that are hidden by larger ones. Herbs of Oregano and Sage as well as Parsley, Onions and Feverfew.

Children are carrying the tradition of the Peony forward.
Now we follow with the cold, then the snow for a Merry, Merry Christmas. HAVE A HOLLY, JOLLY CHRISTMAS

In addition, I need to mulch my Hydrangia and the new Japanese Primrose roots I have received. Am so anxious for spring to come as I havn't seen a Primrose in many years. I also have perinnial Hibiscus and lots and lots of other plants to care for.
My Marigold crop was just fantastic this year.

Two blogs ago I said I would have items for sale.
They are in the blog of September 30, 2009.
Now that is coming close to winter in my area, I will have more items for sale.
Crocheted hats for children and adults. Forever dishclothes "They never wear out."
And many other items.
Many will be photographed.
Keep checking back from time to time, you never know what treasure you will find.

A new Recipe from Chmpbell's Kitchen
Time for a nice hot meal whether it be a casserole or a pot of soup or stew.

From my friend Sandy.Creamy Mushroom-Garlic Chicken
from Campbell's Kitchen
Prep Time: 5 min.
Cook Time: 20 min.Ingredients:1 tbsp. vegetable oil4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves (about 1 pound)1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Mushroom with Roasted Garlic Soup1/2 cup milk Directions:Heat the oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 10 minutes or until well browned on both sides.Stir the soup and milk in the skillet and heat to a boil. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.

Jolly Snowman on his way!

No, he is not here yet, but the way it feels with the wind it seems as though,
"I'ts beginning to feel like Christmas."
This is the second day of very strong winds and cold canadian air. I brought in my potted Purple Wandering Jew, my Sage and a Geranium. Hope they make it until Spring 2010. That seems strange and need to think to type it and I'm a good typist.
The wind blew over my tomato cages but did not harm the plants. If this cold keeps up, I'll pick my green tomatoes. With the amount on the vines, I could have fresh tomatoes until next summer.
If you have green tomatoes you wish to save, just pick them, wrap them in newspaper, place in a dark place (like a closet). They will riped and be just a good like them came right off the vine. I love my tomatoes. How about you? Come on along on my blog and give me your opinion of tomatoes.

You are looking at the upperhalf of a tree in my yard. As you can see it hangs over the gutter.
It is very, very old, probably around 40 years old. It came up volunteer, has been cut back drastically 5 different times and is still living. Yes, it has knot holes where branches were lobbed offed and is shedding it's bark, but after last night, I believe it is a very strong tree.
Last night in my area, we have a thunderstorm to beat other thunderstorm"s. It came up very unexpectdly. 2 or 3 lightning flashes followed by the thunder, then -----------with gusts of winds which roared past the house and rain like I have in my whole life never seen. I looked out my picture window. It was raining so hard that it was running like a stream down the storm window glass. The storm lasted only about 10 minutes. I don't usually get upset by storms, but I was very uneasy with this one. I was raised in Tornado Alley. Never have I been in one, but I have heard the roar and the noise of objects being thrown around. That is what I heard last night. I believe there were tornadic winds above our area. As for the tree. No damage, but lawn was covered with leafs blown from the branches. Time to thank God for sparing us from a worse storm.
For now, I need to brave the Canadian, cold air and take some fall pictures and get a few groceries.

Feelin' Great
Hey, what a day! Sun is shining, humidity (all last week) is down and feelings of helplessness is gone. Now to start a new day. Clicking on:I just looked at about 100 pictures of our illustrious first lady's costumes. She is sure a looker. From the formal dresses she wears to her play clothes, I think Mrs. Obama is outstanding in the fasion world.Never mind that she has taken a page out of Jackie'O's book. When you are thinking fashion for yourself, just go back in time a little for Jackie'O styles then progress to Michelle styles.A similarity? Yes, but Michelle carries the statement of sheer elegance in the warm every day style portrays.With the styles in the stores today, it should send women back to the sewing machine or to a resale shop where styles are more traditional.I like Mrs. Obama's styles very much. Only one thing I would consider not chic. That is when she wears a style above her knobby knees. Hey, Michelle, just come down 2 or 3 inches so all your knee caps don't show. Sorry, but they are boney and ugly.Just call me critical.
