I am a gardener, among other things. Starting in the spring, the Hosta starts to parade in its green, blue and yellow finery.
In the fall they bring forth their white, purple and lavender blossoms. The yellow Hosta has a White blossom with a lavender throat. After they have bloomed and the stems are cut back, occasionally they will send up more shoots for blossoms. If not they just keep their color blue, white green etc. until fall when they turn yellow and must be trimmed back. I started out with 1 Hosta and now have 8 different variety.
On the right is a bed of Purple Cone flowers placed among the Hostas. Also in the same picture is a patch of bright yellow wildflowers in the upper left corner and in the bottom right corner are some Marigolds. The trunk of the tree branches off into two trunks about 4 feet up. I have a clump of Hostas growing there which I placed there many years ago.
Purple Cone Flowers

also grow among the Hostas. The white daisys in the upper left hand corner sets off the other colors magnificiently.

Black eyed Susans and white Daisys grow among the hosta.
==================================================================Now that I have finished that corner of the garden, I'll go to the opposite corner where all the Marigolds and various other plants grow.

Marigolds with my 3 morning visitor.

The last day I saw my visitor he was walking down my driveway. After the great flood when Noah built the Ark at God's command, it was a Dove that Noah sent out to see if it was safe to let the animals 2 x 2 out into the world. The Dove returned carrying an Olive branch in his mouth. Peace! Peace be with you!
There also is Parsley, Oregano, Sage and Feverfew. First to bloom in the spring is my prize Peony, the first plant I put in the garden many years ago.

There are more, the Coreopisis and Iris purple, yellow, lavender and white both short and tall.
Coreopisis
Iris
short and tall, not only the varigated white and purple but all putple, yellow and white.

Then there come the Poppies, row on row, between the Hosta, the cone flowers and every other living thing in the garden. The blossom of the Poppy doesn't last very long. 2 days at the most, but are beautiful in their regal, lacy attire. When they drop their finery, they leave a pod filled with tiny black poppy seeds. I have never tried to use them as don't know if that strain of poppy is edible and each time I think of it, realize I might be poisoning myself. The seeds in those pods spray as far as they can reach. In addition, the birds have a great time, scattering them all over the neighborhood. Then to cap off the varities of floral plants, there is the Sunflower. They also re-seed themselves. I have giant yellow Sunflowers and Sunflowers with bronze throat and stripped brown and yellow Sunflower blossoms. The little finches love the Sunflowers in addition to the thistle seed I feed them. The Hummingbirds like the Purple cone flowers and the deep red Sedum. My flowers don't stand alone however.

TOMATOTOMATOTOMATOTOMATOTOMATOTOMATOTOMATOTOMATOTOMATOTO
My pride and joy in my garden are my tomato plants. I purchased 2 Bonnie plants from K-Mart in April, planted them right away in large free standing pots, covered them with a smaller set of pots until the weather became more like summer. I kept the plants covered untilMay 20 I had a tomato on one plant.
Picture taken May 20, 2009 That isn't the end of my tomato venture. See all pictures by scrolling down. I harvested tomatoes for myself and friends all summer. Now have green tomatoes ripening.

Picture taken July 12, 2009.
A successful year for flowers and veggies. There is still Parsley and Beets to be harvested. But, that is another story.
On theleft the blossoms of the Hostas with Purple Cone flower and Daisy blossoms, with a tiny patch of marigold in bottom right.
Next Is My Prize Peony and the Celoesis

Following the Peony is the Yellow and the white Daisys.
and the Purple Cone Flowers.
Following the Daisy like flowers comes the Large Blossomed Moon Flower. The reason it is called the moon flower is that the blossoms are about 10 to 12 inches Across, and last only one night. They open in the early evening and stay open until 8 pm. Their aroma is Delightful and envelopes the area with the sweet, romantic fragrance. Beside it grown a large red geranium. Don's have manhy of those anymore. Have tried to keep through the winter, but I've always lost them. One day I'll find the secret of keeping thde blossoms.
